SPECIAL PROGRAMS

The Feinstein Foundation and Enterprise Zone programs can provide added benefits to donors and charities.

The Feinstein Foundation

For the eleventh straight year, Alan Shawn Feinstein will divide $1 million among hunger fighting agencies nationwide using it to help them raise funds during March and April, 2008.

The more donations made to agencies like ours - from March 1st to April 30th - the more of the Feinstein money they will get! Many agencies featuring this in their mailings and telephone solicitations have increased their donations two or three times their usual returns!

Donations can include cash, checks and food items (valued at $1.00 per item or pound) as well as pledges, as long as they were obtained ONLY from use of the challenge.

The million dollars will be divided proportionately among all agencies complying with the requirements and checks will be mailed by August 1st, 2008.

Feinstein’s past $1 million challenges to fight hunger have raised a record $760 million for agencies nationwide. Your donations toward this campaign make you partners in the most successful grassroots campaign to fight hunger of all times. That is something donors can take great pride in.

If you would like to be part of this challenge, please write, "Feinstein Challenge" on the memo line of your check. The results will be known by August 1st. We will let you know in the Newsletter exactly how much we received for the Mission.

The Enterprise Zone

The Enterprise Zone is a tax incentive to encourage job growth in our area. Open Door Mission is eligible because of the work we do in assisting the homeless find work.

Colorado Enterprise Zone legislation permits a 25 % tax credit for Colorado taxpayers who make cash contributions of $250.00 or more per year, and 12.5 % tax credit for in-kind contributions of $250.00 or more per year to approved Enterprise Zone projects/agencies. Your contribution of $1000 could cost you substantially less after the Enterprise Zone deductions. Please contact your tax advisor for more specific details.

Open Door Mission sends quarterly reports which should be saved and given to your tax preparer at the end of the year. The more you give, the more you save.

Reminders: If you want to ensure that a donation will go into a certain quarter or before the end of the year, please be aware that we need processing time to input donations into our system. If you have specific needs, Karen Doyle, our office manager, is in the office from 9-5 Monday through Friday. Please feel free to contact her at (970) 224-4302 x11.

Open Door Mission was knitted together through many years of prayer and hard work. Your help, whether financial or otherwise, is priceless to us. Please consider supporting Open Door Mission as part of your goodwill or philanthropic program, either as an individual, family, church, organization, club, or business.

Receipts are available with any donation or contribution. Valuation of donated merchandise will be the responsibility of the donor (IRS rules). A yearly financial statement is available to all donors upon request.

We invite you to contact us if you have further questions.
